Our client and her family had only been living in the property for a short time after having it redeveloped, leaving the garden to be the next project. The driving force for creating a garden space was starting a family. A usable outside space connecting with the newly developed inside was necessary.
From initial discussions which identified the objective, a concept drawing was produced which led to structural and material choices, a planting plan and a detailed costing. Once agreed a timeline was produced with a start date.
The work started with the removal and recycling of the old decking. Then the new higher height fencing was installed followed by the forming of the block work plant beds. Ground preparation allowed the laying of the Welsh slate tiles and the lush artificial lawn. A seating area was created with MDF hinged seat tops providing valuable storage space. The rendered block walls were then painted a very specific sky blue, the plant beds were filled with organic compost and all the planting was carried out. Plants were selected for their choice of structure, texture, colouring and varying height levels.
